Originally constructed in 1962, Elbert Elementary has served Winter Haven families for more than half a century. Starting in 2023, the school will undergo a complete modernization project that will replace aging, existing structures with state-of-the-art buildings to house brand-new classrooms, science labs, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) studio/classroom, a media center, an early learning center for preschoolers and kindergarteners, a cafetorium (combination cafeteria/auditorium facility), and a full kitchen with serving lines.
Additionally, the project will include a paved play court, two playgrounds: one for grades K-3 grades and another for grades 4-5, a designated car line area designed for greater efficiency, and a specific area for bus drop-off and pick-up.
The Elbert Elementary Modernization project is made possible through funding by the Polk Promise 1/2-Cent Sales Tax Initiative. Thanks, Polk County!
The Elbert project is currently undergoing bids as part of the design stage.
